The Low-Cost Carrier Passenger’s Perceptions of Rules and Regulations of Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Materials
Abstract
The purposes of this study were 1) to study rules and regulations about carrying dangerous goods and hazardous materials into the aircraft; 2) to study factors influencing passenger’s perception of rules and regulations about carrying dangerous goods and hazardous materials into the aircraft; and 3) to study the pathway to inform passengers about the handling of dangerous goods and hazardous materials into the aircraft. The samples were low-cost passengers at Don Muang Airport, including 400 passengers of Thai AirAsia Co., Ltd., Thai AirAsia X Co., Ltd., Thai Lion Mentari Co., Ltd., Thai Smile Airway Co., Ltd., Nok Air PCL and Nokscoot Company. Questionnaires were utilized as the study tool. The data analysis consisted of percentage, mean and standard deviation. Regarding the study, 1) rules and regulations about carrying dangerous goods and hazardous materials to the aircraft involve with international regulations and Thai regulations of dangerous goods by air which results in the passengers’ perception, 2) The passengers’ perception of image symbol, perception of types of forbidden objects in the safety zone and perception of rules and regulations about safety during air traveling are in the high level. As for the channel of information, it is in the medium level. Most perceive information from speaking announcement of airport officers and the passengers take high concern and give priority to in the high level and 3) In terms of the pathway to inform passengers, there should be the development of adding more informative channels for public relation such as via Website, Line, Instragram and Facebook so that they can access to the information easier.
