The Development of Consciousness Test of ASEAN Community for School Administrators

Abstract


The research objectives were to 1) determine the factors of consciousness of ASEAN community 2) develop consciousness test of ASEAN community for school administrators under the Office of Basic Education Commission. The research was comprised of 3 procedures. The first procedure was to find out the relevant variables in the research based on consciousness test of ASEAN community for school administrators from document study, literature review through the method of documentary analysis plus interview of expertise until getting variables of consciousness of ASEAN community to further develop questions items for consciousness test of ASEAN community for school administrators. The second procedure was to determine factors and their indicators for development of consciousness test of ASEAN community for school administrators as well as to make the assessment of research instrument. Then, the checked instrument was brought to prepare as questionnaire for try-out from sample by which the reliability of questionnaire at 0.85 was obtained. The data collection was made by the researcher from the sample of 331 secondary schools under the Office of Basic Education Commission. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and Exploratory Factor Analysis with Principal Component Analysis. The third procedure was to develop consciousness test of ASEAN community for school administrators. The findings of this research were found as follows; 1) the consciousness test of ASEAN community for school administrators was comprised of 4 factors namely (1) preparedness of personnel for ASEAN community at 18.74% of variance, (2) understanding, acknowledgment and mutual benefit at 13.87 of variance, (3) good membership with adaptable mind to changes at 13.87 of variance, and (4) efficient implementation at 10.95% of variance. And 2) the development of consciousness test of ASEAN community for school administrators contained Index of Item-Objective Congruence in range 0.6 – 1.0 , reliability at 0.98, and discrimination in range 0.54 – 0.87. In addition, indicators were objective and the aforesaid consciousness test was acceptable for authentic measurement.
