A Development of Learning Organization Model for Thai Commercial Ban

Abstract


The purpose of this study were 1) to investigate the current operation situation of Thai commercial banks, and elements affecting being learning organization of Thai commercial banks. 2) to develop a model of learning organization for Thai commercial banks, and 3) to evaluate the developed model. The samples of this study were 403 employees from 7 large and medium sized banks in Thailand. Interviews and questionnaires were used to collect the data. Arithmetic mean, standard deviation and multiple regression analysis were employed to analyze the data. 1) The investigation of current situation revealed that 3 main elements with 4 sub-elements each affected being a learning organization of Thai commercial banks. A model of learning organization was then developed based on the found elements including: (1) Organizational element with 4 sub-elements: process improvement and development, appropriate organizational structure, modern information technology system, and motivation; (2) Learning element with 4 sub-elements: employee empowerment, work environment, organizational knowledge, and organizational leader; And (3) Element of knowledge management with 4 sub-elements: employee skills, organizational learning culture, learning technology, and organizational policy and vision. 2) The developed model was evaluated by 16 experts. 3) The evaluation indicated the developed model; namely, learning organization for Thai commercial banks was satisfactory and applicable.
