Development of a Project-based Instructional System for Enhancing Information Literacy of Undergraduate Students of Burapha University
Abstract
The purposes of this research were to develop the Project-based Instructional System for Enhancing Information Literacy of undergraduate students of Burapha University. The specific purpose were 1) to study the components of the instructional system; 2) to study the developmental test of the instructional system; 3) to evaluate students’ learning of information literacy; 4) to study the students’ learning progress 5) to study the satisfaction of students toward the learning activities; and 6) to assess and certify the qualifications system from the educational experts. The samples used in this research were (1) 10 educational technology specialists and instructional design specialists (2) 61 undergraduate students who were selected by Multi-stage sampling. The research instruments were: (1) the system prototype; (2) an achievement test; (3) information literacy assessment forms; and (4) students’ satisfaction questionnaire. The data was analyzed by the use of Efficiency test (E1 / E 2 ), Mean, Percentage, Standard Deviation, and t-test dependent. Major Findings: 1) The Project-based Instructional System for Enhancing Information Literacy for undergraduate students studying at Burapha University composed of six components: (1) Analysis (2) Teaching plan (3) Supporting Learners (4) Project-based Teaching (5) Evaluation and (6) Inspection and Improvement. 2) Efficiency testing of The Project-based Instructional System for Enhancing Information Literacy of undergraduate students of Burapha University was E1 / E 2 = 85.35/87.59 which meet the criterion set. 3) The students’ information literacy was high at the statistically significant of .01 level. 4) The students have achievement progress at the statistically significant of .01 level. 5) The satisfaction of students towards the learning activities were mostly satisfied. And 6) The assessment and certification of the qualifications system from the educational experts were found highly appropriate.
